Everyone wears shoes. After all, they protect your feet, keep them healthy, and can even provide comfort. After all, if your feet are hurting, you’re not having a great time. Treat your feet right and you’ll be rewarded with better foot health. The best way to do this is by buying the right shoes.

To assist you in selecting the right shoes, here are some of the top tips that you should follow courtesy of the Pedorthic Footcare Association.

    1. Your Shoe Size Isn’t Standard

One important thing that you need to keep in mind when you are going to purchase shoes is that you cannot look at brands the same way. Not only will your size differ based on brand, but also styles. Try Gravity Defyer shoes to find a perfect fit. Therefore, you need to look at each shoe brand and style independently and buy the right size for your feet. You’ll find that a size 11 in one brand is a size 10 in another. Don’t select your shoe size based on the size alone. You will need to try shoes on from different brands to ensure that you are choosing the right work shoes for plantar fasciitis.

    2. Get Both Feet Measured

Another mistake that a lot of people end up making when they are buying shoes is not measuring both feet. While it may not seem like it, your feet are likely different sizes. Most people have a foot that is longer or bigger than the other. Therefore, you’ll want to measure them both to ensure you’re buying the shoe size that fits your biggest foot.

Bonus Tip: You should be going to a brick-and-mortar shoe store that is going to measure both of your feet. Also, you want to wear the same type of socks that you plan on using while wearing them.

    3. Select The Right Shoes

You need to look at the overall shape of your foot and try to find the right shoe type that matches it. Finding shoes that match your foot shape is one of the best ways to ensure you’re able to find the right shoe for your feet. Take a look at Gravity Defyer shoes.

    4. Try Them On

You need to try on shoes if you want to find out if they are right for you. You should be judging a shoe based on how they fit and feel on your feet. If a shoe feels too tight or too loose when you are trying it on, it’s not going to get any better.l

    5. Get The Right Width

Your feet need to fit in the shoe. Thus, you want the shoe to be wider than the width of your foot. You also want the shoe to be longer than your foot. After all, when you are making contact with the ground, your feet are going to spread out. Also, you’ll notice that in the summer months your feet will swell up. Therefore, you should always leave room for your feet to grow and swell.

Bonus Tip: Try to give yourself as much as 1/2 of an inch at the end of the shoe of your longest toe.

    6. Account For The Widest Part Of Your Foot

The ‘ball’ of your foot is likely to be the widest part of it. Because of this, you need to ensure that it fits comfortably in the shoe you end up buying.

    7. Ensure Your Heels Fit

You don’t want to get shoes that are too small for your feet just so your shoe doesn’t slide up and down. If you are suffering from slippage at the heel of your shoe, you can add a shoe insert to it to account for it.

    8. Inserts Will Change The Fit

You need to keep in mind that any inserts you use or orthotics are going to alter the fit of your shoe. Therefore, you want to ensure that you account for this when buying the right size. You’ll need to opt for a larger size if you are going to be adding thick inserts or orthotics.

    9. Think About How You Use Them

Always ensure you are buying the right shoes based on how you will be using them. Think about what activities you’ll be doing. Feet change shape and size when you are doing things like running and exercising.

    10. Walk-In Them

Always try to walk in the shoes before buying them. There isn’t a need to go out and do a workout with the shoes you’re deciding on. Instead, you just want to give a good circle around the store to ensure that you are buying comfortable shoes and the appropriate size.
